I first got on board a week before the fund raising happened (great timing) and watched my investment slipping of into the sunset, Dohh!,
But thankfully i stayed on board the goodship Cyan and even bought more shares, tripleing my holdings.
I am now actually in the black, phew!!!!! and can see myself adding quite a few more of these little dudes to my portfolio.
am I right in thinking that quite a few of the people on this BB, like myself live in the Cambridge area ?.
I often go to the industrial site where Cyan is based to boy my Plumbing supplies.
Is anyone going to the open day on the 7th ?

I think this company has great prospects and glad I got on board when I did, preferbly a week later though (haha)

TNEB Tender

Outcome of initial tender for 1.5M units can't be too far away. Last update in early March advised that there would be a couple of weeks compliance work needed & then at least 2 months actual testing which takes up to around now. Although of course it may take longer as total order over the next five years for this project alone will be around 18M units so is not a decision to be taken lightly.

It was confirmed at the AGM that they would update the market in early June if the outcome was still unknown. I for one would prefer that we receive a positive RNS within the next week or so.

Fingers crossed............ By Donetravelling

No surprises if not a lot of free stock as at current and quite a bit higher the up-side is significant for existing holders. Obviously with the depressed price of late unlikely the old "tree-shake" would catch out many holders so they may have to march up the hill a bit for a change!

India 2027

Evening All

Sorry for not picking up on the significance of the Cambridge reference a couple of weeks back and putting in some research on Geoff but clearly Mr Cronin has decided to promote Geoff already !

14:30 Geoff Sarney, Head Smart Metering, Cyan Technology/Telefonica – Gold Sponsors

http://www.cir-strategy.com/events/cleanpower/SGCPProgramme2012.pdf

...but as I travel back in time I have found this which highlights the potential longevity of this company as an investment (or value in a TO situation) for India only :

New Delhi, India --- (METERING.COM) --- March 5, 2012 - A draft smart grid vision and roadmap for India to 2027 and beyond has been released for consultation by the India Smart Grid Forum.

According to the six-page document the proposed smart grid vision is that by 2027 the Indian power sector is transformed into “a secure, adaptive, efficient and sustainable system that provides reliable and competitive energy to meet the needs and aspirations of all citizens through active participation of all stakeholders and innovative technologies and policies.”

To achieve this three five year plans are offered, coinciding with the Indian government’s five year development plans – the “near term” (2012-17), “mid-term” (2017-22) and “long term” (2022-27).

The plans envisage a reduction of losses in all utilities to below 15 percent by 2017 and below 10 percent by 2022. Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) will be rolled out on a phased basis to customers above specific (yet to be agreed) consumption levels. By 2017 smart meters should be the norm for all new connections.

There should also be progressively wider deployment of SCADA/distribution management systems and power development reform program (R-APDRP) solutions.

By 2027 there should be utility-wide smart grid rollout in all the major utilities, with all 33 kV and above substations automated and all transformers monitored. Smarter cities and utility corridors also should be implemented that can leverage common infrastructure for automation and control of electricity, water, gas and district cooling/heating networks, common control and command centers, and automated mobile crew systems, etc.

Other proposals include significant skills development in the period to 2017, and much of the standards development taking place in the mid-term. By 2027 there should be at least 33 percent renewable generation and the electric vehicle infrastructure is leveraged as virtual power plants.

http://www.metering.com/Draft/smart/grid/roadmap/India/releasedhttp://www.cir-strategy.com/events/cleanpower/SGCPProgramme2012.pdf

Great couple of weeks and whilst I missed the AGM I am feeling we are moving swiftly onto the next stage of the project as the company transforms the team in line with its new challenges and opportunities (never forgetting of course those that got the technology/comapny to where it is today)
Geoff Sarney commented, "I am excited to be joining Cyan at a time when the long investment in the commercial opportunities in India triggers a transformation in terms of customer, market and shareholder perception. We will be building on this base to create a world class, multi-national business at Cyan with a complete service and software offering as well as a network of partnerships.
Re: Tech stock Bubble?

Fair point.

Depends on whether or not you believe the debt driven financial system is going to be replaced by an equity based system.

Ironically over 140 nations are currently using the latter (China and India included) with only the G5 (USA, UK, Japan, Germany and France) and approximately 25-30 countries employing the former.

Perhaps a better turn of phrase would be a tech stock equity driven renaissance.
