Fair point owl but SG has to start somewhere.
It's true the team on the ground will determine Hawk's fate but it's SG's job to make sure we have the correct team in place.

I think the changes he's made are all positive(well all bar one in which Tim Heeley is on the ground in America and in charge of operations. Not sure if he has the experience or know how for that job but time will tell).

Not expecting too much progress in the Q4 results,I think it will be at least Q2 2012 before we see progress. It will be interesting to see how the sp reacts after Q4 results.
it's premature in my opinion to give any credit to anyone on turning this company around just yet.

I agree completely: But we are now in a position to move forward and before I believe we just faced suspension.

We have $80m worth of knowledge /experience at Jolly, AND the road to recovery will be very challenging. However, for the sake of all those invested here I hope SG can increase the value of the business and from these rather low levels with All the bad news priced in and No upside potential (yet priced in) ----Just imagine Three new wells All producing!!!

MrPutt
You make a good case for SG, I grant you. However the problem is not only one of personalities at the top, it's a systemic problem in the nature of Hawk's business as a speculative player in the shale business rather than being either a true exploration or a production company. Whether this, behind all the words, has changed waits to be seen but it's premature in my opinion to give any credit to anyone on turning this company around just yet. The team on the ground will determine Hawk's fate, not SG. This is far from a $billion company as some on this bb would like us to believe but if they can show credible results in increased production then there's a slight chance of survival. At this stage that's the most you can hope for.

Re: Private Investors / SG doing great j...

GiveMeTheFacts

I believe NH was in a very serious position when SG joined in Sept.

I know there is a bit of a knock about on this bb about the The past v New management and those in and wanting / needing the sp to rise and those out (sold at loses/ burnt / bitter) who hover on the bb's in a voyeuristic way trying to ensure the girlfriend they dumped isnt actually better than their new one!

Nevertheless, in september production at Jolly wasn't good, our ability to raise funds---Even with three specialist fund-raisers on the bod--was severely compromised by our track record at JR(ie $80m/$90m spent by the partnership and production Very poor). The legal issues with the operator and our cash position.

I believe the market saw TH as part of the problem. He was very bullish on NH when at DS (remember his comments on Cisco!) he was at Nh for TWO years before his promotion (and signed of the infamous rns 26/01/10
"The project has now advanced to a stage where completion techniques, refined over the past twelve months will now be applied to all the drilled wells. This will promote optimum production from this new oil play in the carbonaceous shales of the Atoka and Cherokee formations of the Denver Basin, the main focus of the project."

In addition, The "participation" of RF and in Particular ST ,I believe continued to have a very negative view on NH.

Since his appointment the Big picture challenges ....RF...ST...MT...and TH have all been dealt with . I think this has been complicated, with the high risk of litigation and is an amazing success. In addition NH has raised funds in terrible market conditions AND still has ST's team available so the baby isnt thrown out with the bath water.

So....SG has Creditability, a good track record, funds, an experienced team on the ground AND
3D siesmic indicating a number of sweet spots and in a business that is "hot" in the usa at the moment..

I am not a long term investor here ( the geology) However, this is now NOT the business of the passed and I do hope to trade NH..

hi GiveMeTheFacts.
I have asked this question before as the USA wants to be more self sufficient on its own resources and not depend on the middle east, there appears to be
a lot of shale plays in progress, surely if one can extract this oil then the method can be applied to all and maybe SG can do it.

Re: Private Investors / SG doing great job

Mr Putt

I'm not agreeing, nor contradicting your statement that "SG is doing a great job", but what do you mean by this? What has happening since his appointment in September of last year. What are you giving him such credit for in particular?

And AE :

Nighthawk is still a pure gamble really . Still no evidence that there is a commercially viable project at JR yet - as has been the case since the very outset, despite the wild boasts and claims made by some in the past. The new guy "Chuck" is there to give it a shot. We have not yet heard what he makes of this nut, nor has he had time to assess whether he can crack it. So it's all guess work.

Nothing has moved yet. No progress operationally. We are still way behind. In fact, way way behind where we were once led to believe we might be. Refined completion techniques (2009) being applied to all drilled wells Jan 2010 etc [RNS 26.01.2010] PAH !

Next set of production figures will probably be meaningless too. Production when wells were not under Nighthawk's operational control etc etc. If production hasn't gone up, then that's covered. If it has one up, then there's no need for any change with respect the operator is there?

One day Jolly Ranch might just work. As yet, there is little evidence to show this. I believe this oil CAN be extracted, but HOW and WHEN and by WHOM, are the big uncertainties By GiveMeTheFacts

Sorry mr putt and AE for not putting my point over very well.

What I meant was yes there is plenty of shale oil but Hawk seem clueless how to extract it in commercial quantities which I wish I knew before investing three years ago.

It seems that new investors are making the same mistake.
At present my main hopes are on GOO for oil and TRT for technology. By SIPID
