Annual Results ....

... are due early next month. I think STM will have turned a corner and the results are likely to show a big improvement based mainly on QROP sales in Gibraltar and Malta. These are now two of the most favoured locations for QROPs and STM is represented in both. By dandigirl

Re: acquisition and incentives

I agree its a tall order and find it hard to see them reaching all targets but even if they reach half, its worth double the share price.

I dont see the deal being a bargain but on the other hand I dont see it being overly expensive either as it fits well with there plans. I like the fact they are now going to concentrate on existing businesses for 2010 and not chase any more acquisitions.
Hopefully it will not be costly to bed in as others have proven to be, and the separate divisions can pull together more which seems to have been a problem in the past......a nice incentive package always helps to smooth these problems.

Evolution seems to have reiterated there stance with a 35p target and I believe Finncap have a new report out next week.

1st hurdle is eps of 3p+ for 2010 which looks definitely achievable and 4.3p+ for 2011 which looks tighter....at 35p that would put it on a 2011 p/e of 8 which seems reasonable. By hithere1andall

Re: acquisition and incentives

I see your point. Agree on incentives but looks like a tall order. That said if it works then the share price will have moved 5 times in the next 3 years - not a bad return.....but....

Re the acquisition it will be earnings enhancing as it is bought as a going concern. But they pay £5.1M for profits of £0.6M when trading themselves on a PE of 3.6. Looks expensive IMO. This may explain the price weakening seen.

The reports for 2008 and 2009 dont match up. the life company was launched in Spring 2008 but seems to be new for 2009. The general feeling is that the life bond market is well up due to concerns on bank disclosures so that's business not being captured. By Jeffers51

acquisition and incentives

Some good things going on here in the last few days.
Acquisition should be earnings enhancing this year but Ive especially interested in the incentive plan thats being rolled out for key members of staff.

Anywhere that has such large reward for share price and eps targets always appeal to human greed, so it wouldnt surprise me if the targets are met this year at least. It should also retain the management and make sure they work there arse off to try and achieve it. By hithere1andall

Results for 2009

Just picked these up. Seems that key indicators moving the wrong way. Cash collection seems an issue meaning that if only 1/3rd of the very overdue customers were not to pay there would be serious losses. Compared with other businesses with flows of annuity income the p/e seems weak so I am struggling with the business model.

I note Altas (http://www.atlas-corp.com/) is a company in a similar industry looking to float on AIM and this would be good to see the comparisions which are otherwise difficult to make.
I remain to be convinced. The trading statment looks speculative on their abiity to recover budgets for the 2nd half of the year based on, yet more, internal "improvements". By Business King

Re: Trading Update -just passing by.

Thanks for the various comments about STM on this board.

The share caught my eye via today's Broker "Buy" recommendation from Dan Stewart, with a new target price of 50p, against their previous 85p target.

I notice the house broker, Evolution, 1/4/09, had no recommendation on the shares.

I think you're correct that it's a speculative buy at quite a bit lower price and I'll keep STM on my watch list.
