Autonomy unveils internet TV search product
Article layout: raw

LONDON (AFX) - Autonomy Corp PLC, a UK software company, this morning launched a product allowing users to search for and manipulate films, TV programmes and music broadcast over the internet.

Autonomy said its IDOL IPTV Suite enables consumers to search for programmes across a range of television channels, while filtering out unwanted content.

The new product also helps broadcasters to deliver content more efficiently to consumers, said Autonomy, which sells its software to the likes of British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC.

Earlier, Autonomy posted a 12 pct rise in 2004 profit as a strong rise in sales overcame the adverse impact of higher costs stemming from a weaker US dollar.

Autonomy, whose software enables companies to manage and interpret data, posted full-year pretax profits of 8.583 mln usd, up from 7.68 mln in 2003.
