FTSE slips as Spain uncertainty continues
The FTSE 100 slipped 0.28% to 7,520.53 on Thursday morning amid continued uncertainty around Spain and Catalonia.
International support services and construction group Interserve (IRV) tumbled 22.5% to 69.75p after warning operating profit in the second half would be approximately half the level of last year's.
Unilever (ULVR) fell 2.74% to 4,424p on news its third quarter growth had been curbed by poor wealth in Europe and natural disasters in the Americas. Turnover was down 1.6% in the third quarter.
Casino and bingo operator Rank (RNK) managed like-for-like revenue growth of 2% for the 16 weeks to 15 October, but the shares fell 1.52% to 226.1p. Venues revenue was down by 1%.
On the Beach (OTB), an online retailer for beach holidays, grew its UK revenue by 17% in the 52 weeks to 30 September 2017, with a strong second half sales growth of 26%. But the share price fell 0.58% to 447.38p as the company warned of a one-off exceptional cash cost associated with helping customers of failed airline Monarch.
Shares in London Stock Exchange Group (LSE) fell 0.84% to 3,887p on news its chief executive Xavier Rolet will step down at the end of December 2018 after nine years in the role.
