Launched in 1995, Interactive Investor (II) is an award-winning, online investment service that provides retail investors with unbiased financial information together with the tools and trading environment they need to make confident and informed investment decisions.

As one of the UK’s leading investment and trading websites, II has 7.4 million unique users pa who contribute to one of the most engaged and active investor communities in the country.

Whilst, as an execution-only broker, II does not offer advice, it does offer a comprehensive range of financial services. Customers can choose from investment options including Share and Fund dealing, SIPP, ISA and Junior ISA trading accounts, an extensive research range, investment filters and a selection of ready-made investment options.

Customers have access to their valuations and holdings at all times with the ability to trade on their desktops, on II’s tablet and mobile apps, or over the phone. Over 40% of new customers are referred by friends and family, which is testament to II’s competitive pricing, systems and service.

II is at the forefront of offering quality financial information and trading services and prides itself on delivering first-rate customer service, fair and transparent pricing and market-leading content – all of which are supported by a high-quality, experienced contact centre and a robust and scalable trading platform.

Interactive Investor is privately owned by Interactive Investor plc and is not listed on any exchange.

The Group also owns Moneywise Publishing Limited, a company that publishes consumer finance titles Moneywise and Money Observer magazines and their websites:

II also operates a sister website shareprice.co.uk which specialises in the mobile delivery of real-time share price and trading.

Interactive Investor plc and its group of companies are registered in England and Wales (registered number 4752535) and is governed by the Companies Act 2006. It is required to submit audited financial accounts each year by independent accountants.

Adam began his career at the Bank of England in 1983, and spent 18 years at global consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led the UK financial services practice. In 2008 he joined the retail board of HBOS as MD Specialist Banking, Bank of Scotland International, and chairman of AA Personal Financial Services and a board director of Sainsbury’s Bank. After the acquisition by Lloyds Banking Group, Adam was appointed head of Lloyds’ UK High Net Worth business. Adam was educated at Cambridge University and London Business School.

Barry Bicknell – Chief Financial Officer

Barry has a strong financial and risk-management background having spent 6 years at HSBC Investment Bank as Head of equity derivative product control, and 5 years at Westlb Panmure as Director of Operational Risk. He also brings expertise in delivering controlled growth in online retail financial services after four years spent as Finance Director at CMC Markets.

Jeremy King – Publishing Director

Jeremy has been Publishing Director at Interactive Investor since 2004 having previously been Publisher of Moneywise magazine from 2001-2004. He has an extensive background in the financial and media sectors having been a Director of Private Share Ownership and a Board member at ProShare, the UK Share promotion agency. From 1987-1999 Jeremy worked for Financial Times Business running a range of business-to-business and personal finance magazines, their related products and events.

Alex Kovach – Chief Commercial Officer

Alex Kovach joins as Chief Commercial Officer from Camelot, the UK’s national lottery provider, where he had served as Managing Director of Camelot Global Services (CGS) since 2010. He has broad commercial and general management experience with a focus on digital, consumer and early stage business start-ups and corporate ventures. Previously, Alex was CEO for International Development at Ladbrokes PLC. He was educated at Durham University and has an MBA with distinction from Insead.

Guy Evans – Chief Technology Officer

Guy Evans has a strong IT and development background. Guy was a co-founder, software architect and then CTO of Site Intelligence which became one of the UK's leading web analytic companies. More recently, Guy was CTO at Bullionvault, the gold trading peer-to-peer platform with annual sales in excess of £500 million.

Gary Shaw – Director of Operations

Gary Shaw joins as Director of Operations from RBS where, most recently, he was Head of Operations for the Group's mortgage business. He has extensive experience of leading operations and customer contact teams, having served over one million customers and a loan book in excess of £100 billion at RBS. Originally qualifying as an Electrical and Electronic Engineer, Gary has over nine years' experience of leading large scale operations in the financial services sector, developing and implementing customer experience improvement schemes and automated customer processes.

Brian Gray – Head of Risk and Compliance

Brian has worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years. Starting out in Murray Johnstone, he moved to Barclays and was an Operations Manager before moving to Compliance where he was responsible for the oversight of the Barclays Wealth Execution Only service and Private Banking (Scotland). Brian is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and sits on various Wealth Management Association Committees including Regulatory, Financial Crime Committee and Risk Officers Forum.

Hugo Van Vredenburch – Chairman

Hugo Van Vredenburch – Chairman

Hugo is the former CEO of TMF Group, a position he held since 2010, following the merger of TMF Group and Equity Trust, where he was CEO. TMF is a multinational professional services firm that provides accounting, tax, HR and payroll services to businesses operating on an international scale. It operates in 80 countries and has grown rapidly both organically and through acquisition. Prior to that, Hugo held a variety of positions at Goldman Sachs over a 13 year period, including heading up the Equities Division in Japan, as COO of the Global Equities Division and co-leading the Pan-European Equities Franchise. Hugo began his career in Japan, working as an analyst and subsequently as General Manager and CIO for Tokyo Pacific Holdings. Hugo is a Non-Executive Director of TMF Group and Tempus Energy. Originally from the Netherlands, Hugo is married with 5 daughters. He has been an investor in Interactive Investor in his personal capacity since 2012.

Tim is the founder of Augmentum. Augmentum has built a portfolio of investment in internet-focused companies, and is wholly backed by RIT Capital Partners plc.

Andy Pomfret – Non Executive

Andy Pomfret – Non Executive

Andy Pomfret is a Non-executive Director and he also chairs the Risk Committee. Most recently, he was Rathbones’ chief executive and chaired their Executive Committee. Prior to joining Rathbones, he spent over 13 years with Kleinwort Benson as a corporate financier, Venture Capitalist and latterly Finance Director of the investment management and private banking division. Andy is also a Non-executive Director of Graphite Enterprise Trust PLC, Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust Plc, Old Mutual Wealth Management Limited, Sanne Group plc and Miton UK MicroCap Trust plc.

Peter Dicks – Non Executive Director

Peter Dicks – Non Executive Chairman

Peter Dicks stepped down from his role as Chairman of Interactive Investor in September 2015, a role he held since 2009, he remains a non-executive director. Peter is a founder Director of venture capital company Abingworth plc, Chairman of Private Equity Investor Plc and is a director of several quoted and unquoted companies, including Polar Capital Technology Trust plc, Graphite Enterprise Trust plc and Standard Microsystems Inc, a US NASDAQ quoted company. He has been Chairman of Foresight VCT plc and Foresight 2 VCT plc since their launch in 1997 and 2004, respectively, and has been Chairman of Foresight 3 VCT plc and Foresight 4 VCT plc since July 2004. He is also Chairman of Unicorn AIM VCT plc.

Richard Wilson – Non Executive Director

Richard is a former Chief Executive of Societe Generale Newedge UK Ltd, a leading derivatives execution and clearing broker. Prior to this Richard has held a variety of senior positions in the US and Europe in broking and investment banking covering operations, technology, finance and general management spanning 25 years. Richard is currently Chief Administration Officer of the Cooperative Bank plc and Board Advisor to the Medical Research Network, a leading Clinical Trials Organisation. Richard is married with four children and lives in Oxfordshire.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme

Investors are likely to be covered by the provisions of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), if Interactive Investor ceases trading. It can award up to £50,000 in compensation to any one investor where they decide that an investment business is in default and is unable to satisfy any claims against it. In addition, if one of the banks which we use for depositing cash balances is declared in default, each individual is entitled to 100% of the first £75,000 in total in compensation for losses across all their deposits with each separately authorised institution. (Banks which are subsidiaries of a larger group may be covered by one single authorisation. Where this applies the limit applies to the total of all accounts across the authorised group).
